Lobster Buoy Campsites is located on over 400 feet of Maine seashore. We are a small and private campground. You can swim in the Atlantic Ocean, build castles in the sand or beachcomb for driftwood. Magic rocks, shells and wonderful memories are just waiting to be gathered on the shore. You can watch aquatic wildlife, lobster boats and glorious sunrises right from your site. Our view of the everchanging ocean has given countless painters and photographers all the inspiration needed without even having to leave the campground.
Lobster Buoy was started in 1969 by Fred and Mabel Batty. We started small, with five campsites, and have grown slowly to our current forty sites. We have tried not to commercialize our area, preferring to keep things simple and to the liking of the old-fashioned camper. We try to encourage guests who enjoy the simple camping experience and who need no additional entertainment.
Little has changed at Lobster Buoy over the years except that we are now in the fifth generation of campers. We have attempted to keep the campground updated but unchanged. The mackerel fishing still starts around the Fourth of July and the Schooners still sail past on their seagoing adventures. Lobster boats still fish in our cove and kids still swim in the cold water.
Fred no longer tells his stories around the campfires and Mabel no longer mows the lawns, but the ducks, loons and gulls still carry on their conversations while they fish in the ocean in front of the campground.
